The German semiconductor company Nexperia mentioned USM

Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) is among the public universities mentioned by the German company Nexperia during the recent visit of the Right Honorable Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim and his delegation to Germany. This information was uploaded on the Facebook page of the Honorable Senator Datuk Seri Utama Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz during a program by the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) there. The information refers to a Memorandum of Understanding followed by a Research Collaboration Agreement (RCA) between the Center of Excellence for Microelectronic Design Collaboration (CEDEC) at USM and Nexperia to develop electronic transceiver chip designs. Under this RCA, Nexperia has provided industrial grants to CEDEC to conduct research on transceiver chip designs led by CEDEC's senior lecturer, Dr. Jagadheswaran a/l Rajendran. It also provides funding for PhD studies and joint research projects with USM. Additionally, Nexperia R&D Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is one of the tenants at the University Innovation Incubator (I2U) at USM. This demonstrates that I2U provides synergy in cooperation between academia and industry. Nexperia is a leading global semiconductor company headquartered in the Netherlands and has been operating in Malaysia since 1992. It aims to continue expanding its operations in our country and has collaborated with USM and other public universities for local talent development.
