10 December 2025 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) and the Collaborative Microelectronic Design Excellence Centre (CEDEC), in collaboration with Yayasan LTAT, carried out the STEM Education Programme for Children of Armed Forces Personnel at SMK Pangkalan TLDM Lumut.
The programme was held as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen access to quality education for children of Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) personnel.
A total of 60 Form 2 and Form 3 students participated in the Snap Circuit Workshop, conducted by the USM team. The workshop was led by Asrulnizam Abd Manaf, Director of CEDEC, who introduced fundamental electronics concepts through an interactive and hands-on learning approach that was both engaging and easy to understand.
This programme is the fifth initiative under the Yayasan LTAT Education Initiative 2025, officially launched by Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Minister of Defence. The initiative aims to inspire exploration and shape a brighter future in science and technology.
In his speech, the Principal of SMK Pangkalan TLDM, Lumut, Mr. Hassan bin Abd Ghafor, expressed his appreciation for this meaningful initiative in fostering a STEM learning culture among students. Also present was Mr. Mohd Ashraff bin Hj Mohd, Special Officer to the Minister of Higher Education (KPT), who conveyed appreciation for the strong strategic collaboration between Yayasan LTAT and USM in delivering intensive modules under the STEM Outreach Programme phase.
