Cheah Hun Wah holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering. Mr. Cheah also hold a Masters in Engineering Business Management from Warwick University, UK.
He started his IC design engineering career after spending years of wafer fabrication development work. He has since logged 25 years in Malaysia, India & the U.S. with a broad field of experience in IC design engineering and held positions of leadership at departmental and divisional levels. His key strength lies in VLSI ASIC, SOC, FPGA IC design as well as in the backend advanced FinFET design. Hun Wah has 18 years with Intel Corporation with valuable experience in managing their Backend VLSI Physical Design team comprising of a global team with more than 300 experienced engineers across ASIA and north America. Hun Wah also engaged in and completed over 200+ IC chip Tape-Outs in his career.
He is one of the co-Founders of Oppstar Technology; a regional premier IC design centre headquartered in Penang, Malaysia. He currently serves as an Executive Director and the Chief Technology Officer, positions he held since 2014.
Mr. Cheah is also the CEO of Airis Lab Technology, a Malaysian leading AI IC chip company focusing on leveraging Artificial Intelligence algorithms in chip design. He led a strong team of key technologists to successfully tape out Malaysia’s first Neuron Network Classification Engine IC chip through the TSMC fab process foundry back in 2019.
He enjoys in his spare time challenging himself in adventure obstacle outdoor courses and related activities and has completed several full international marathons.
