Prof Khaled Nabil Salama from KAUST Appointed AS CEDEC Academic Fellow

Professor Khaled Nabil Salama is a Professor at  Computer, Electrical, Mathematical Science and Engineering (CEMSE), King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) since 2018. He is one of the founders for the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Program and Principal Investigator of the Sensors Lab. He is also a co-founder of the Ultrawave Labs, a biomedical imaging company at California USA from 2007-2008. Before joining KAUST, he was an Assistant Professor at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), NY, USA from 2005 to 2009.

Professor Khaled  graduated from Cairo University, Cairo, Egypt with an undergraduate degree in Electronic and Communications Engineering in 1997. He then received his Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University, Palo Alto, CA, USA in 2000. Afterwards, he continued his study in same university where his contribution in CMOS Luminescence Detection Lab-on-Chip: Modelling, Design, and Characterization  an earned him his Doctor of Philosophy in 2005

He has over 20 years of research experience in intelligent sensors, biosensors and VLSI architectures for bio-imaging and instrumentation development. His research interests cover a variety of interdisciplinary aspects of electronic circuit design and semiconductors' fabrication. He is engaged in developing devices, circuits, systems, and algorithms to enable inexpensive analytical platforms for a variety of industrial, environmental, and biomedical applications. Recently he has been working on neuromorphic circuits for brain emulation.

He has authored and co-authored over 100 research articles and book chapters.  He is the owner of  large number of patents in sensor technology and number generators for cryptography and he has number of patents before he join KAUST. Professor Khaled is also an Associate Editor of IEEE BIOCAS in 2011-2013 and Associate Editor of IEEE CASII back in 2011-2013.
